New Wine with Barbara

Greenhill farm Landford New Forest 13/14th August; 1 night. chris and Libby. First camp together. Direct access to new forest. Very good with quiet section with ducks for oldies.
Green Hill Farm Caravan & Camping Park New Road, Landford Salisbury, Wiltshire

Hurst view, Pennington. Me alone and another time with Libby. Excellent informal site with direct access to Lymington/Keyhaven coast path. 15 minute walk to Chequers inn (excellent).

Manorbier near Tenby. 29th-31st August; 2 nights. Chris Libby Hugh. Sophie/Adam wedding.

CS site. Kelpie tents. CC 158/182. Simple site in field. Electric. Small shower and loo facilities. 01834 870 317 or Look up on website as phone number is changed.

Our September trip
Chris, Libby and Hugh (Hugh returns home by Flybe from Edinburgh). 12th – 221st. All sites are in CCC bigsites guide.

Pleasley, near Mansfield (Sep 13). Halfway to Duddo (Nigel’s). Very simple – just a field. OK for one night. There are many sites around here so not sure which it was. Look here:

Beadnell Northumberland. On coast. Separated from beach by the road. No problem. Good facilities and nice restaurant in the village. CCC site.

Linwater near Edinburgh. Good site with good walks. Very near Edinburgh airport. Access at airport (to drop off Hugh) was difficult. Recommend he goes by taxi to airport in future.

Longtown and Gretna Green, Northumberland(?). OK site but not interesting area. I think this is the site:

Malham tarn  Wild camp in small carpark. Nice walk up to the centre. There is a nice campsite down the hill in a small farm.

Malham (in previous van) Riverside campsite Malham Cove. Excellent with lovely direct riverside walks. Peregrines and grey wagtails etc.

Carsington Water, Peak district. Pudding House campsite. Very simple friendly site.

Hurst View, Pennington
Visited when possible

East Creech farm. (16/08/2015) Near Wareham. Excellent with good walks direct from site. Tearooms.

Wales trip
Fairbourne. (12/09/2015) On south side of Barmouth Estaury. Informal simple good. Very near spar shop, indian restaurant and fish and chip shop. Next to station of Fairbourne/barmouth railway. And main line to Shrewsbury. Excellent walks/rides along shore and around estuary, Arthog etc.

Near Bala N Wales.  Ty Cornel, Frongoch Bala Gwynedd   LL23 7NU   Tel: 01678 520759. Next to river Tryweryn and National white water centre for rafting and kayak (anyone can use it for daily fee).

Ridge Farm. Arne (29th/30th September 2016. Ridge near Wareham. 
Excellent walks and bike rides around Purbeck on South of Poole Harbour. Shortish bike ride to RSPB site and to town of Wareham (excellent restaurants). Closed October to March. Nice site. Flat. Small shop in season. Barnhill Road, Ridge, Wareham, Dorset BH20 5BG.

North of Leeds. Near Junction 51 on A1(M). Friendly Stella runs the site. Nice walks. Flat agricultural area. Near village. CCC certificated site.

Glencoe, Argyll, Scotland. Near Glencoe, in the mountains on A82

Wild country. Golden Eagles SSSI. Good facilities and restaurant.

Ken Bridge Hotel, Ayr Road, New Galloway, Castle Douglas, Dumfries & Galloway, DG7 3PR
South East of Prestwick. At cross roads of On A713 and A712. 01644 420211
On river called Water of Ken. Next to 18th-century coaching inn whose beer garden extends, , into a small riverside field. Electric hook ups and some hard standing. All facilities are good with good restaurant. Fishing permit is included in cost of campsite. Good local walks including long walks on river bank. mail@kenbridgehotel.co.uk.

Malham Cove. Riverside Campsite. On right of the road on the way out of Malham (Cove road).

Beef cattle farm run by Norman and Jean. The camping field used mainly by Duke of Edinburgh kids. Good facilities. No camping vans or caravans but they kindly let us park on the only bit of flat empty ground. Wonderful walks up to the cove. NB there are other campsites nearby.

Brundcliffe farm near Hartington South of Buxton. In the Peak District National Park, Derbyshire.

A working Dairy farm, just off the main Buxton to Ashbourne road (A515) Very nice site with friendly farmer (Andrew). Some hard standing, with electric hook up, free WiFi and is a great base for exploring the surrounding area, including the High Peak trail which is adjacent with direct access.

Frampton Marsh RSPB bird reserve.Off the A16 between Spalding and Boston. They welcome camper vans to stay on the carpark overnight. We were camped just behind the centre. Website

High Sand Creek Campsite, Greenway, Stiffkey. Off A149 between Wells next the Sea and Blakeny. Large site mainly tents. Adjacent to marshes and vast beach. We never reached the sea. There is a creek for swimming or boats at high tide. Excellent pub food about 15 minute walk. On coastal path.
