 Southampton to Kings Sutton near Banbury to stay with Peter and Dot Evans (A34, M40, 92 miles); to Crakehall near Bedale (M40, A46, M69, M1, 206 miles); to Duddo (Nigel’s) (A1, M1, A1, B6353 at Fenwick, 136 miles); to Glencoe (A698 to Coldstream; B697 to Lauder for fuel – none on these roads till after Edinburgh; A68, A720, M8, M9, A84/85 to Crianlarich, A82 to Glencoe ski resort, 168 miles). Return: to St. John’s Town of Dalry/New Galloway (A82 past Loch Lomond, over Erskine bridge, M8, A78/A77 to Ayr, A713, 331 miles); to Malham Cove (A712, A75, past Dumfries to Gretna, M6 to Jn 36, A65 past Settle, Skipton, A629, A6033, Hebden bridge, Huddersfield, Holmfirth, Glossop, Buxton, A515 towards Ashbourne to near Fenny Bentley, to Brundcliffe Farm (99 miles); to home (Burton upon Trent, toward Nuneaton A444, A5, M1, A43 to Brackley, M40, Newbury, Home, 198 miles).  Total 1208 miles.
