Tirumala   Tirumula is about 16km North of Tirupati in the hills. It is approached by a one-way road from Tirupati and is one of the most important, biggest, richest temples in India. It is the home of Sri Venkateshwara, also known as Balaji. This year I visited with Madhu who queued to enter the inner sanctuary for 6 hours  TOP
The famous gold roof of the inner sanctuary, seen over the top of an excluding wall

The power of the god is augmented by controversial windmills
Part of the queue for darshan with Sri Venkateshwara as it winds around the huge temple area
Trapped in the queue, pleading for ice-cream

Having offered his hair to the god it is time to cover up
Or buy a souvenir
Time from a rest from it all
For 10 rupees they promised to protect our car
A subsidiary temple near the main temple. From the size of the worshippers' sandals I guess it is for kids

Chittoor  About 90 minutes from Tirupati; I was visiting Madhu              TOP

They were as interested in me as i was in them, but i could have run away
The duck farmer set up camp next to the river
I think his feet were smelly
