Konanki was a small village about 100km West of Vijayawada (Andhra Pradesh) and 60km North of Chilakaluripet (place of the parrots). I visited the village to stay with my friend GRC Nagaraju. I met him when teaching on the Biotechnology course in Sri Venkateshwara University and we remained friends as he was working for his PhD. I stayed four nights during Pongal festival. His family were farmers.
These pictures were taken as colour slides and then scanned into computer.

Just after this the local press insisted on a photo with me holding the sacred cow
The band were fairly gentle until they saw me with camera
Then things got more frantic
They seemed to enjoy it as much as me
